If you are thinking of changing money at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, knowing the best place to go to can put some extra money in your pocket, as much as three Baht for every US Dollar. Money Exchange Counters To Avoid At Suvarnabhumi Airport
When you arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the first money exchange counters you will come across, will be in the Visa/Immigration area. Those are the absolute worst places to change money, offering horrible exchange rates. Unless you need to change money to pay for visa fee, just ignore those counters, even if some of them are displaying claims of offering the best exchange rates in Thailand. Those claims are false.
Similarly, when you cross Customs and step into the arrival area, you will see exchange counters there too. The exchange rates there are slightly better than the visa/immigration area, but still bad. Level B For Best Exchange Rates – Directions
As you can see in the floor-wise plan of the airport in the image above, the airport rail link is located at level B. Take one of the elevators or escalators and get there.
Once on Level B, you will see this entry to the rail link, as shown in the above image.
Inside, you will see this ticketing area. From there, turn left and turn right again. You are going behind the exchange counters.
Behind the exchange counters is the way to the money exchange area, where one can get the best exchange rates at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
How Many Exchange Counters
In December 2022, there were three exchange counters in this area, and more are likely to open in the future. I will update this page when I see that happen.
Timings
This money exchange area opens between 5.00 am and midnight. However, some exchange counters open between 5.30 am and 11.30 pm.
